A small evergreen or semi-deciduous tropical fruit tree, commonly growing about 3–10 meters tall when mature. It has smooth, often peeling or mottled bark, opposite oval leaves with prominent veins, white flowers, and round to pear-shaped green or yellowish fruits. Guava fruit is rich in vitamin C and dietary fiber and is eaten fresh or used for juice, jam, jelly, desserts and other food products. It grows well in tropical and subtropical climates, preferring full sunlight and well-drained soil, and is relatively tolerant of different soil conditions.
